William Burks was lucky to attend Autodesk University in Las Vegas this year. From November 30th through December 4th he was attending intensive training workshop and lectures concerning digital design. He was also fortunate enough to see some new technologies and participate in some beta programs that revealed the future of digital design using Autodesk products.

Dallas is quickly becoming a center of architectural innovation. On October 17 downtown Dallas welcomed the addition of two new architectural gems to it's Fine Art's District. The Wyly Theater by REX|OMA and the Winspear Opera House by Foster+Partners. Both architecture firms came to Dallas to talk to the public about their projects and other works they have going on.

Join us for a hands-on exploration of computational design. Software designers and architects will show you how to use GenerativeComponentsTM, a parametric, associative design software that supports both conventional and groundbreaking architectural design.
The workshop will offer two sections: one for beginners, and one for those with some experience in computational design. Open to designers, researchers, students and faculty members; application required.
This event is modeled after the internationally successful cross-disciplinary tutorials presented by the SmartGeometry Group and has been developed by Brad Workman, who holds the Twenty-First Century Chair in Integrated Practice at the University of Arkansas.
The workshop is hosted by the University of Arkansas School of Architecture and Bentley Systems, Inc. The workshop is free of charge and is limited to 25 participants.

The SmartGeometry Group is pleased to announce that the annual SG event will take place in San Francisco 27th March – 1st April 2009. The event will be the key event in the year for discussing, learning and networking about the emerging practice of digital parametrics within the AEC community.
The event will come in four parts, a Workshop (27th-30th March), a public Alumni Summit (31st March) and a public Conference and Reception (1st April). These events follow the highly successful previous SG events, Munich 2008, New York 2007, London 2006 and multiple preceding events. Venue details will be posted on this web site as soon as they are available.
The Workshop, applications for which will open on-line on smartgeometry.org on 1st December 2008 and close on 19th January 2009, provides a unique opportunity to work with the most established experts in the world on digital parametric design. The 22 tutors come from world-renowned firms and leading Academic Institutions in this emerging cutting-edge technology.
