We are big fans of Windows 8 here at deprocess, so when the latest release of the Windows OS (8.1) was available we were excited to download and try out the new interface.  We are sure there are others out there that are just as eager to try out the new OS but before you go to the store and download the latest build make sure you have one of the following graphics cards.

K Series

  • Quadro K6000
  • Quadro K5000
  • Quadro K4000
  • Quadro K2000
  • Quadro K2000D
  • Quadro K600

Previous Generation

  • Quadro 6000
  • Quadro 5000
  • Quadro 4000
  • Quadro 2000
  • Quadro 2000D
  • Quadro 600
  • Quadro 400
  • Quadro 410
These are currently the only Quadro cards that are driver supported in Windows 8.1.  If you choose to upgrade to 8.1 and you don’t have one of the listed cards above you will lose and GPU benefit that you are currently enjoying in Windows 8/7.  This has the potential to mean slower 3d interfaces and slower render times, if you are rendering in iray or any other GPU accelerated render engines.  If you upgrade to Windows 8.1 you can go here to download your latest Nvidia drivers.  If you have any questions about this feel free to drop us a line in the comments below.  Thanks!
